Manual for DMK 11A and DMK 11A-GPS

These quick-start installation steps apply to both DMK Box models (11A and 11A-GPS).

Review all the instructions before you begin. Depending on the vessel, instruments, and install location, you may need some of the following to complete the installation:

  • Mounting screws to attach the polycarbonate device case to the vessel
  • Terminal strip
  • Heat-shrink connectors
  • NMEA 2000 T connectors
  • NMEA 2000 termination resistors
  • Voltmeter
Choose a Location
  • Near access to your vessel's instrument bus and a DC : 5-24V power supply
  • As far from engine vibration and moisture as is practical
  • 20 cm / 8 inches from occupants, as with any Wi-Fi device to minimize interference and EM
Mount the DMK Box
  • Position the device so the Wi-Fi antenna can point straight up.
  • Remove the clear polycarbonate cover by removing the four phillips-head screws
  • Mind the gasket placement when you replace the case cover
Power the DMK Box
  • Connect the brown wire from the ribbon to a +5-12V DC power source
  • Connect the black and/or white wire to the ground
  • Wiring to the instrument bus varies by vessel; see the wiring key on the box.

Check LEDs

You are ready to connect your iOS device when:

  • LED 6 blinks green
  • LED 1 blinks amber
  • (Depending on your instrument set and bus, other LEDs may be active as well)

Open the Settings app on your iOS device.

Wi-Fi Network

Select the dmkyacht SSID

WEP Password

Enter 0123456789 when it asks for a password.

Static IP Address

Then tap the arrow to the right of the dmkyacht row to set up the IP address info as follows.

  • Auto-Join: On
  • IP Address Assignment: Static
  • IP Address:
  • Subnet Mask
  • Router
Launch the DMK App

Now you are ready to launch the DMK App. If your boat has the instruments that are displayed in the app, they should start updating with values within a few seconds of launching.
